My name is Chewit Self, and I’ve been tattooing professionally for over 17 years. I learned the craft under Marcin Ptak, building a strong foundation that has shaped both my technical approach and artistic mindset.

I work across all tattoo styles, but I’m best known for my realism, particularly black and grey and colour work. Over the years, I’ve owned and operated three tattoo studios in various locations and have worked internationally through guest spots and tattoo conventions, gaining a broad range of experience and influences along the way.

After spending 15 years away — living in Carlisle and previously Manchester — I’ve recently moved back to Edinburgh. I’m incredibly excited to reconnect with the city and its clients, and to bring everything I’ve learned throughout my career back home.

I draw daily and paint whenever I can, and I take on a lot of custom commissions, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’re interested in original artwork as well as tattoos.
